USA sending units, and products are based on a solid reliable design. Wema
Systems is backed up by 20 years of experience, and our service capabilities
are worldwide.CAUTION, LEAKING FUEL IS A FIRE HAZARD. Any work
modification, removal or replacement of parts, that can jeopardize the seal
of the tank, will require a tank integrity (seal) check per the
recommendations of the tank manufacturer and industry standards. When
removing and replacing a sending unit, replace the old gasket for the 5 hole
mount. and the "O" ring for the 1-1/4" BSP mount, with new ones. These parts
will usually be furnished your replacement unit. On the 5 hole mount units,
care should be taken to line up the gasket mounting holes (They
will only line up one way). Use of a gasket sealer is up to the discretion
of the tank manufacturer. If a gasket sealer is used, it must be approved
for the media it is to be used in, and must not be corrosive (or alter the
chemical composition) of the gasket, sender or tank material. For the SAE 5
hole mounting sending units, all 5 of the sending unit mounting screws (not
provided with the replacement sender) must be installed evenly, and in a
star pattern. Do not over torque any one screw. Screws should all be snug,
before final torque. Final torque must also be in a star pattern. No leakage
is allowed. Pressure test mode is up to the discretion of the facility
installing the unit. Do not overpressure the tank. For marine pleasure craft,
max is 3 PSI.
SENDER LENGTH MEASUREMENT Caution: End of sender down tube must
not bottom out with inside bottom of tank. General lengths available are
from 4 inches through 60 inches. 1/2" increments for sizes of 4" through
18-1/2", and 1" increments for sizes of 19 through 60 inches.
1.) To measure for the sender length required, you must know the tank depth from the outside
top of the tank (at the sender location) to the inside bottom of the tank. A MINIMUM of 1” clearance must be maintained between the tank bottom and the float retaining collar. Sender clearance between an adjacent tank side, baffle or angled bottom should also be checked at this time.
NOTE: FAILURE TO MAINTAIN PROPER CLEARANCE MAY RESULT IN A UNIT MALFUNCTION, COULD CAUSE TANK DAMAGE, OR LEAKAGE, AND WILL VOID THE WARRANTY OF THE UNIT.
